세계태권도연맹은 Refract Technologies와의 협약해 만든 최신 제품으로 가상 스파링을 발표하면서 지속적으로 혁신하고 경계를 넓히고 있다.
올림픽 데이에 맞춰 세계태권도연맹은 태권도 기술을 가상시합으로 전환하기 위해 선수의 전신 움직임을 매우 정확하게 실시간으로 추적하는 몰입형 비접촉 가상스포츠인 가상태권도를 통해 미래를 미리 보여주었다. 선수의 몸은 일대일 형식으로 실제 상대의 아바타를 이길 수 있기 때문에 게임 컨트롤러로 변형된다.
가상 스포츠는 물리적 장벽을 제거하고 경기장을 평준화하여 플레이어가 성별, 체중 등급, 능력 및 지역에 걸쳐 경쟁 할 수 있는 새로운 기회를 창출한다. 올림픽 아젠다 2020+5와 완전히 일치하는 세계태권도연맹은 빠르면 2022년에 가상 태권도 대회를 계획하고 있다.
Coinciding with Olympic Day, World Taekwondo previewed the future with Virtual Taekwondo – an immersive, non-contact virtual sport which uses highly accurate, real-time motion tracking of a player’s full body movements to turn taekwondo skill into virtual competition. Players’ bodies are transformed into gaming controllers as they are able to kick and punch to beat the avatar of their real-life opponent in a one-on-one format.
The virtual sport removes physical barriers and levels the playing field, creating new opportunities for players to compete across genders, weight classes, abilities and geographies. Fully aligned with Olympic Agenda 2020+5, World Taekwondo is planning for virtual Taekwondo competitions as early as 2022.
