World Martial Arts Masterships Committee was established to achieve globalization, communication and harmony through martial arts by building up peace and harmony of human beings, and developing diverse activities to promote world’s martial arts.

Martial art has been considered as a culturally valued practice in human history and tradition, pursuing the fundamental end of self-completion through self-defence.

Also, a variety of martial arts have been developed and disseminated with their own identity and integrity across the world. Nowadays, martial arts have been regarded as an internationally and universally recognized human practice along with international martial art events.

Unfortunately, mega events for martial art appear not to concretely hold their place as internationally recognized ones while the Olympic Games for sport is the global sporting festival without any doubt. We, martial artists, should make an overwhelming driving force of the global mega event for martial art, which is an intangible cultural heritage.

In this regard, World Martial Arts Masterships Committee (WMC) was established in 2016 to guarantee the continuous hosting of Masterships, and to become a driving force and hub of world martial art which is able to pass martial arts down to the next generation as the heritage for human beings.

From now on, WMC will build up continuous networks with UNESCO, SportAccord/GAISF, IOC and International Federations from each country so that the World Martial Arts Masterships can grow as the world’s greatest martial arts mega event.
